The immense preserved cerrado sandstone walls, such as Crista de Galo or the natural lookout, form the scenario of the valley. The cold waters of the Rio Claro are
great for swimming.
The Santa Ana Church is known by travelers as the most beautiful in Mato Grosso due to its rich decorative details, the
7 km from the center of the Chapada, heading towards Campo Verde, the lookout offers a spectacular view of the pantanal plain. It is one of
the region’s postcards.
One of the highest points in the region, it offers a 360º view of the pantanal plain, Morro do Quebra Gamela and the great walls of the Chapada. Go with a guide.
Rock formations sculpted by the wind and rain create forms that remind you of city ruins. The wall
has a 300-meter drop.
Explore the Aroe Jari Cavern
Visit the largest sandstone cavern in Brazil at 1550 meters long, level and with innumerable waterfalls. Don’t forget to visit Lagoa Azul, near the entrance. The crystalline blue water in the natural pool is reflected on the walls of the cave, creating an incredible visual effect. You can only go with authorized guides.
Hike the Caminho das Pedras in the National Park
Take this 8 km trail that goes through several sandstone formations, such as the Jacaré de Pedra and the Pedra Furada. During the hike, stop to see the Fósseis de Conchas do Mar (remainders of the time when the Chapada was under the sea) and then finish by taking a refreshing dip in the Namorados Waterfall.
Caminho das Cachoeiras
During your visit to the 7 waterfalls that are along the way, you will be able to swim in 5 of them. The first, the 7th of September, you can go under the waterfall for a wonderful massage. The next to last, the Cachoeira das Andorinhas, is fantastic, with an incredible view and what’s more, it’s great for a swim.
