The Cultural Center Oscar Niemeyer is named after the renowned Brazilian modernist architect and has unique building characteristics in its forms.
The design is simple: a rectangular terrace with four spaces: the Palácio da Música (Music Palace), which is egg-shaped, the Museu de Arte Contemporânea (Museum of Contemporary Art), a suspended cylinder-shaped building, the Biblioteca (Library), with the shape of a pavilion, and the Monumento aos Direitos Humanos (Human Rights Monument), which is of a triangular nature. The latter, with red color, contrasts with the others (all white color) and with plain green at the background, forming the curious and unique visual stimulus of Oscar Niemeyer’s works.
The space is an important cultural center of the city of Goiânia. Events, shows, exhibitions, cinema, lectures and more happen there. Mostly, free events. The courtyard is a place for social interaction mainly in the evenings and on weekends, when the space is filled with skateboarders, roller bladers and bikes for children.
Street food tents complete the uncompromising and cheerful atmosphere of the place.
Take your own skateboards, roller skates and bikes or rent roller skates on the site.
During the day, it’s hot the whole year. It rains from October to March.
During the day, wear sunscreen. At night, bring a lightweight jacket.
Free entry to events and buildings open to the public, and paid entry for concerts and private events.
