Located in the city of São Raimundo Nonato, the Museum Foundation for the American Man (Fundham) was created by a cientific corporation of researchers from France and Brazil. Cientists from different nationalities have worked in the Foundation since 1973, researching the prehistory and the interaction between man and the environment.
In the Museum Foundation for the American Man, four decades of research done at the Serra da Capivara National Park are displayed in a permanent exhibition that depicts the mankind history from 100,000 years ago to the Portuguese colonization. You will find collections of paleontological, archaeological, zoological and botanical material.
With 90 items, the collection displays pebbles burned in bonfires 50,000 years ago, fragments of ceramic from 9,000 years ago, coffins and skeletons in the mezzanine floor. In the last rooms of the exhibition, there are bones and drawings displayed. There is an also temporary exhibition in the Museum.
