Jericoacoara
With its calm seas, Jericoacoara is the perfect location to practice water sports and experience amazing natural beauty.
Jijoca de Jericoacoara is located on the extreme west coast of the state of Ceará, about 300 km from the capital, Fortaleza. The municipality is home to the famous Jericoacoara Beach, or just Jeri, as it is called by the locals. This wonderful beach has earned international fame as one of the most beautiful in the world.
Jeri Beach faces the village of Jijoca de Jericoacoara. Its waters are shallow and there are very few waves, which are ideal conditions for water sports such as Stand Up Paddling, Kitesurfing, and sailing. There are food stands on the right side of the beach where visitors will find meals, drinks, and sun loungers. There are many local rafts all over the beach, which is surrounded by small ponds and 30-meter-tall dunes that change color over the day, according to the incidence of sunlight.

Jericoacoara is the perfect location to practice water sports.
On the left side of the beach, you will find the “Sunset Dune.” Every afternoon, at around 5pm, there is nothing better to do than to go to the top of the dune and watch the spectacular sunset. It always attracts crowds, who applaud excitedly as the sun sets into the sea.
Local tradition states that everyone must get down the slip face of the dune. You can make the moment a little more exciting by sand sledding down on smooth boards and pieces of cardboard. It’s definitely a lot of fun!
Jericoacoara is a true natural paradise on earth. There are no lampposts on the streets, so the moon and the stars are the only light at night, which adds to the local charm. There are also no paved streets. Feet in the sand is what it’s all about and how visitors make their way around the city. The region attracts tourists from all over the world, giving a cosmopolitan quality to what was formerly a small fishing village.
