Porto Seguro
The local cuisine in Porto Seguro is simply amazing. With so many flavors and colors that stir up unique sensations, local recipes will make you come back again and again.
We can’t have a conversation about Porto Seguro without mentioning a classic dish from Bahia, which, of course, is also part of the city’s local cuisine: the acarajé. It’s a delicious fritter made with black-eyed peas, onions, and salt, and then fried in palm oil. Fillings for acarajés include vatapá (seafood stew made of bread, shrimp, coconut milk, finely ground peanuts, and palm oil), caruru (okra, shrimps, onions, and toasted nuts cooked in palm oil), and salad! Other local dishes include sarapatel (a typical dish of northeastern cuisine, prepared with pork offal), the aforementioned vatapá and caruru, feijoada (a black bean stew with beef, pork, and sausages), and moqueca (a seafood stew).

Porto Seguro is a true paradise for seafood lovers. Local restaurants serve a wide variety of dishes often made with fresh seafood caught on the same day.
The culinary scene is concentrated in the region called Passarela do Descobrimento (Discovery Promenade). The region is renowned for its handicrafts market, as well as for the local restaurants and food stalls selling typical snacks such as cocadas (coconut sweets) and tapioca (cassava flour crepes). Noone can resist the popular Capeta, a local drink made with vodka, condensed milk, cinnamon, and guarana powder.
The Porto Seguro Municipal Market is also a wonderful place to try local flavors. The market is renowned for its typical dishes, fresh products, and incredible local fruit, which, by the way, taste simply divine.
Porto Seguro is a destination where visitors will have a little of everything. They can experience the best attractions in the city, including its beaches, beautiful nature, and local music and dance while they enjoy the exquisite local cuisine.
