The capital of Alagoas State stands out for its wonderful beaches and natural pools that are perfect for relaxing. The calm, crystal-clear waters are excellent to observe the colorful and diverse local marine life that fascinates all the visitors.

Stretching for about 40 kilometers, the Maceió’s coastline starts with the urban beaches. The blue-green waters along the state coast make the beaches in Alagoas unforgettable places.

Pajuçara Beach
Popular for its hotels, kiosks, and the local handicraft market, Pajuçara Beach is one of the busiest places in Maceió. The seafront promenade, lined with coconut trees, is a great place for sports enthusiasts. There is a bike path, a footpath, and several sports courts.

The place is renowned for its crystal-clear natural pools, formed by coral reefs at low tide. Rides on local sea rafts are available for tourists who want to visit the pools and swim with the colorful local fish. The ride to the pools takes approximately 15 minutes and visitors can stay in the water for up to 40 minutes.

Ponta Verde Beach
The scenery around Ponta Verde combines modern buildings with the calm, light-green sea, and coconut trees. No wonder it is considered one of the best urban beaches in Maceió. Its natural pools attract lots of tourists, who cannot help but fall in love with the natural beauty in the region.

There are many stalls along the beachfront that offer entertainment and great food. Local kiosks usually attract tourists who enjoy live music, and who want to try the delicious local cuisine. It is also a great place to watch the sunset while relaxing on a sun lounger.

Cruz das Almas Beach
Located in the central region of Maceió, Cruz das Almas is very popular with surfers in search of adrenaline and big waves. This beach is very different from most of the other local beaches, which have calm and warm waters.

Jatiúca Beach
Renowned for its strong waves, Jatiúca is one of the main urban beaches on the coast of Maceió. The beach kiosks located along the entire waterfront have everything the visitors need. If you want to try the local cuisine, we recommend one of the many popular tapioca restaurants in the area, where you will be able to experience regional flavors for breakfast or for your afternoon snack.

Pontal da Barra Beach
Tourists interested in local handicrafts and souvenirs must visit the charming Pontal da Barra, especially “Rua das Rendeiras” (Lacemakers Street). There are many stores in Pontal da Barra that sell handmade items and typical local handicraft pieces.

For those visitors who want to check out some other beaches besides the ones in Maceió, Patacho Beach, in the city of Porto das Pedras, and Morro Beach, in Barra de Santo Antônio, are some of the most visited spots in the region. They are quite near Maceió and it will definitely be an enjoyable day out.
